Community Standards

Last updated: 22 May 2026

Nextdoorly works because neighbours and local businesses trust each other. These Community Standards apply to everyone who uses the Platform.

1. Be honest and respectful

  • Use your real name and accurate information
  • Describe your items truthfully, including faults and limitations
  • Communicate respectfully — no harassment, hate speech, threats or discrimination
  • Honour the bookings you accept

2. Be safe

  • Only list items that are safe to use and in good working order
  • Provide instructions and safety equipment where appropriate
  • Renters: follow instructions, use the right safety gear and don't use items beyond your skill
  • Meet in safe, public locations where possible

3. Prohibited items

You must not list, rent or transport via the Platform:

  • Firearms, ammunition, knives or any offensive weapon
  • Explosives, fireworks, hazardous chemicals or radioactive material
  • Controlled drugs, prescription medicines or drug paraphernalia
  • Counterfeit, stolen or recalled goods
  • Items requiring a licence or registration that the Owner does not hold (e.g. certain power tools, road vehicles, vehicles requiring tax/insurance/MOT)
  • Items that cannot legally be sold, lent or used by the intended Renter (e.g. age-restricted equipment for someone under the legal age)
  • Live animals
  • Tobacco, vapes or alcohol
  • Adult or sexually explicit items
  • Anything that infringes intellectual-property rights
  • Anything otherwise illegal under UK law

4. No platform-bypass or fraud

  • Do not arrange payments outside the Platform to avoid fees
  • Do not create fake accounts, fake listings, fake reviews or manipulate ratings
  • Do not use the Platform for money laundering, scams or other unlawful purposes

5. Reporting

If you see a listing, message or behaviour that breaches these Standards, email hiya@nextdoorly.co.uk with details and screenshots where possible. Reports involving immediate risk to safety should also be made to the police on 999 (or 101 for non-emergencies).

6. Enforcement

Depending on the nature and severity of the breach, we may:

  • Issue a warning
  • Remove a listing, message or review
  • Restrict account features
  • Suspend or permanently ban the account
  • Cancel current bookings without compensation to the breaching party
  • Report to law-enforcement or regulators where appropriate

Decisions are at our reasonable discretion. We may take action without notice where necessary to protect users or the Platform.
